Several accessories are essential, whatever type of motorization you have. Here are the most important points to bear in mind, and the advantages of this additional equipment.
Remote controls
It’s a must-have accessory if you’ve got a lot of people at home; no one gets locked in or locked out by having their own remote control. Some remote control models have a big plus: they’re universal. With these remotes, you can control different brands.
The connected box
This type of accessory is in fact a module that can be installed directly on a motorization system for remote control. This system requires a WiFi connection close to the gate. This box can replace a remote control, allowing you to control and know the position of your gate or garage door, wherever you are.
Keypad/key selector
Whether your system is wireless or wired, it allows you to open an automated system using a code or key. Wired versions take longer to install, while wireless versions are quick and easy to install. What’s more, some keypads are universal and can control several different brands.
Battery backup
This accessory is not often used, but it will prove indispensable. In the event of a power cut, you can still open and close your gate.
Solar kit
Whether you have a sliding or swing gate, add a solar kit to power your motorization. A solar panel takes up very little space. Coupled with a battery, it allows you to open your gate using less electricity. The whole device is wireless, so it’s easy to install: you don’t dig any trenches, you don’t run any cables. The only problem with this solution is appearance. Solar kits are not yet very attractive products.
The additional rack
Although most motorization kits come with 3 or 4 meters of rack, you’ll need to add more if your leaf exceeds this length. Please note, however, that not all rack models are compatible from one brand to another.
Additional photocells
It’s equipment that will serve your safety. In front of and behind your gate leaves, you create a virtual barrier that secures the area around your home, especially for pedestrians and vehicles passing in front of your gate. Please note that there is no systematic compatibility between the various brands.
Additional flashing light
When your motorized gate opens or closes, the flashing light signals the movement in progress. This accessory is mandatory for roadside use. For even greater security of access to your home, you can install a second one.
