Packaging, products, recycling operations and environmental measures on our premises in Indre-et-Loire: Avidsen acts for the planet’s well-being. An overview of our green actions.
A company-wide commitment to CSR
Avidsen offices: the choice of a low-energy building
Summer 2018. Avidsen’s new offices are housed in an environmentally-friendly low-energy building. Other actions have been introduced to collectively reduceour company’s environmental impact. At the head office, the following were installed:
- Motion sensors cover the luminaires by work zone, in every part of our open spaces. The lights switch off spontaneously when the workstations are permanently unoccupied;
- Window opening sensors. Every time you ventilate, the heating or air-conditioning automatically switches off.
Avidsen after-sales service recycling policy
At Avidsen’s after-sales service in Tours, numerous measures have been put in place to eliminate waste, recycle components and packaging, and reuse whenever possible:
- For 50% of our products, components and packaging are sorted. When we talk about packaging, we mean that leaflets, plastic bags, polystyrene and electronic components are processed;
- 100% of products returned to the after-sales service are checked;
- All components extracted from one of our products that can be repaired or reused are preserved or restored for sale as spare parts.
What does this mean in figures?
With our service providers, we recycle internally. This work represents a saving of 70 tonnes of waste per year.
We are currently radically changing our packaging policy, eliminating plastic blister packs from our product packs and replacing them with cardboard. This concerns 75% of our references, i.e. around 1,000 products. Polystyrene wedges are no longer used, where possible. Our recycled cardboard packaging protects 50% of our products.
Our products
Our ambition at Avidsen is to combine affordable prices with respect for the environment.
We favor battery-free products: collectively, this represents a saving of nearly 75,000 AAA batteries in one year, equivalent to around 19 tonnes of chemicals.
In our catalog, some fifty products use the Enocean protocol. These products are extremely low-power, requiring neither mains power nor batteries, and are wireless. This innovative technology relies on surrounding energy to provide sufficient radio transmission to send a command.
Meeting ERP standards for zero-carbon housing
Our videophones now meet eco-responsible ERP standards. It is estimated that they consume ten times less energy than a charged smartphone.
✍? ERP standards aim to reduce the environmental impact of HVAC equipment. A target has been set for these ERP systems: to design and build positive buildings by 2022, meaning that the constructions concerned must be able to produce more energy than they consume.
Bamboo, our eco-friendly solutions for your home entrances
Avidsen’s Bamboo range consists of a chime, a videophone and additional accessories. The green commitment begins with the packaging for this range of solutions. The cardboard comes from sustainable forests, and the leaflet is made from recyclable cardboard.
These packaging choices are well worth it: their production reduces water and electricity consumption by half compared to non-recycled packaging.
The Bamboo chime and BambooView videophone are both powered by low-energy circuits. The video door station requires no battery and operates by connecting to the monitor.
Bamboo products combine elegance and sustainable commitment, whether it’s the chime or the videophone.
The chime is made from bamboo, a wood that requires little water, and 100% recycled plastic.
Recycled plastic avoids the production of 30 tonnes of plastic a year.
The videointercom features the same characteristics as the carillon, with no need for paint; the control buttons are engraved.
Not using paint reduces the discharge of pollutants into soil and water.
